MONTICELLO, Ark. - The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team is set to compete in the final week of regular season GAC play. The Weevils will split the week, starting at home on Thursday, February 28, at 7:30 p.m., as they welcome the Bisons of Harding University for senior night. On Saturday, March 1, they will head to Arkadelphia, Arkansas, for the last game of the regular season, as they take on the Tigers of Ouachita Baptist University at 3:00 p.m.

Senior Day: Thursday evening upon the completion of the women's game the seniors from both the Boll Weevils and Cotton Blossoms basketball teams will be honored at center court.

Halftime Event: During halftime of the men's game, one student will be drawn from entries this season for the opportunity to shoot a half-court shot for $10,000 courtesy of UAM Athletics Sponsor Union Bank. Students can sign up for their name to be called during both the men's and women's games until halftime.

LAST MEETING
Harding University - 
The Boll Weevils fell to the Bison by six points in December, 56-63. Leading Arkansas-Monticello with 22 points on the night was Seth Grandberry. Grandberry hit 9-26 field goals and 4-12 shots from three-point range while grabbing six rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Next up for the Boll Weevils in double digits was Devin Davis, posting 15 on the evening. Davis was 7-15 on field goals, 0-2 from beyond the arc, and 1-4 from the free throw line. He also contributed three rebounds, one assist, and two steals. Arkansas-Monticello committed seven turnovers in the entirety of the match.

Ouachita Baptist University - The Tigers beat UAM by just three points in December, 58-61. Leading Arkansas-Monticello with 14 points on the night was Noah Thomas. Thomas hit 5-8 field goals, 2-4 shots from three-point range, and 2-4 from the free throw line while grabbing two rebounds and two assists. Next up for the Boll Weevils in double digits was Devin Davis, posting 13 on the evening. Davis was 5-9 on field goals and 3-3 from the free throw line. He also contributed three rebounds, one assist, and one steal. Arkansas-Monticello committed 12 turnovers in the entirety of the match.
 

ALL-TIME SERIES
Harding University - 
UAM holds a slight edge over Harding in the record, 68-61, since starting play against each other in December of 1960. The Weevils are 39-23 at home in Steelman, while 27-38 in Searcy, Arkansas. Arkansas-Monticello has gone into overtime on seven different occasions with the Bison, posting a 4-3 record in it, with one overtime game being decided by one point in triple overtime. The highest margin of victory for the Boll Weevils came in 1993 with a 96-60 win. Through 129 games played, the Weevils are averaging 74.4 points per game on 9,598 points scored.

Ouachita Baptist University -  The Tigers hold a six-game advantage over the Boll Weevils, with an overall record of 57-63.  The first match-up between the two teams came on January 13, 1961, with the Weevils winning 42-36. Since then they have a 35-25 record at home, while they are 21-37 on the road in Arkadelphia. The largest win margin over the Tigers came in 1978 with a 91-57 final score on Dec. 4, 1978. Having played 120 games since 1961, UAM has put up 8,318 points, averaging 69.32 points per game.
 

LAST TIME OUT FOR UAM

  • UAM went 0-2 for last week, falling to the Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Friday, February 21, 63-80, and dropping their Sunday, February 23 meeting with the Rangers of Northwestern State University, 69-73.
