Hall of Fame
The late Mike Nichols is one of only four football players from the post-war era to earn All-AIC honors three times.
Considered one of the best two-way linemen of the Convoy Leslie era, Nichols excelled at both center and middle linebacker. UAM won AIC titles in Nichols’ sophomore and junior seasons with records of 9-2 in 1957 and 7-2 in 1958.
Following the 1959 season, Nichols was drafted by the Denver Broncos of the newly-formed American Football League and played two seasons for the Broncos in 1960-61 before retiring from football.
Nichols passed away in 1997.
